You don’t have the opportunity to unlock more cities even if you get a good high score. There are only two cities that you will get to drive in and that’s about it. The game is only good to play for about five minutes.

Everything looks worse if you’re playing on a widescreen television so it’s advisable that you play on a standard definition TV or switch the game to its original aspect ratio. The textures look rough and the character models are laughably ugly.
This is a direct port of the original Dreamcast game and Sega made no efforts in revamping its look. NOTĬrazy Taxi sadly looks horribly outdated. The challenge mode allows you to tackle different objectives such as driving without falling into the water or trying to pick up as many passengers as possible before the time runs out.
There’s the arcade and original modes as well as the challenge mode (called Crazy Box). There are also different modes of gameplay.
It’s just you, your taxi and the passengers as you drive as fast as possible to your location. There’s no back story all long cutscenes to wade through. Your main objective is to drive as many passengers as possible to their desired locations before your time runs out – simple as that. There’s nothing complicated about a game like Crazy Taxi. The indie-rock tunes are appropriate for a game like this and really adds to the overall atmosphere of fast frantic driving. HOTĪlthough this version of Crazy Taxi does not feature The Offspring and Bad Religion, it still has a pretty decent soundtrack. But how does Crazy Taxi fare in today’s market? I don't see what Fox did as copyright infringement, just using the genre and giving it their special touch.Īnyways this game is truly one of Sega's best titles ever there a reason it's been ported to practically every system ever since its arcade release in 1999. Admittingly my first go-around playing a game like this was The Simpsons Road Rage on the Nintendo GameCube, a game with which Fox got sued by Sega claiming they stole their game and reskinned it. I'm not big into driving games but this one really clicks with me thanks to its freedom of a large free roaming world (optional if you wanna dick around) and it's mindless destruction.
It's a sure-fire way to kill the sense of road rage we all have within us or increase it if you're playing it on your phone during a drive.

It's one of those games that's great for speed freaks and really does give you the thrill of a taxi driver with no inhibitions or humanity holding him back as you crash and smash your way through the city to pick up and drop off as many passengers in the time limit. Out of all the games made by Sega that aren't named Sonic the Hedgehog Crazy Taxi is one of the most ported.
